Day 18: I'll Be Right Back...

We were about to sit down to a  Danish smør brod ('spread table': rye bread and an culturally confusing assortment of topping combinations to stack and spread yourself--but meat + cheese is a no no & cheese + jam is encouraged) when we realized that this smør brod didn't have enough brød (bread).

With my new found Danish confidence I left the half-set table to walk to our local store for some more.

--------------------THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE IN PLANS--------------
I am off for Saturday music fest and dinner w/ friends...I will continue this post & add the picture to match when I return in around 10 hours. I'll be right back! sorry...

------------------------I'M BACK & SATURDAY NIGHT TIRED----------------

Where was I? Oh yes we needed more brød. So I said, "I'll be right back." And headed out the door to a shop down the block. Unfortunately, the shop's bread was too expensive; I hung my head and headed home.  But before walking inside, I realized my bike wasn't locked so I took hopped on it to the next closest store several blocks away. There, the bread was much cheaper. I was proud of my sensible and economical decision as I exited Kvik Spar and eager to bike home to a delicious smør brod. But I couldn't. I had locked my bike with no key to unlock it. In the US I was notorious for locking keys in cars, but I didn't realize I could do virtually the same thing with my bike in Denmark.

Luckily, I had my camera and my bread. We had a lovely photo shoot on the walk home.  And then I ate it. Haps.
