Today was Women's Day. We also made 'semlor'. They are suspiciously breasty, but apparently have little to do with Women's Day and everything to do with Lent. Either way, I was told to make and eat them because, 'It's the last day of Semlor Season' & 'they are very Swedish.' **
So we did.
And so can you. In 9 easy steps:
So we did.
"A-semlor line"
1. Make Buns.
2. Cut a little hat off of bun, put off to the side (The buns are now a metaphorical head).
3. Eat a little hole in bun-head.
4. Put marzipan (in our case: Nutella + Banana) in bun-head-hole.
5. Plop whipped cream on marzipan/Nutella/banana.
6. Re-hat the filled bun-head.
7. Shake a little powdered sugar on top.
8. Eat, which their architecture complicates...gets messy folks.
9. Watch Semlor videos.
(in addition to videos below, there are many Blair Witch-ish, 'look how messy my face gets when I eat Semlor' videos. Should you wish for more.
**Swedish readers, feel free to correct me for I was too lazy to do any real research, even for this fløde-filled tradition.
